Outline
Joshua 1: 12-18
The Reubenites, the Gadites and half the tribe of Manasseh. All allocated land by the Lord through Moses on the eastern side of the Jordan River and the Dead Sea. Manasseh to the north. Gad in the centre. Reuben to the south beside the Dead Sea. The men of battle not to rest yet until all the tribes are at rest.
Hebrews 3:15 - 4:13 with a particular focus on:
4:3 - The point of the writer is that faith is the condition of entering the rest.
4:11 - ‘let us labour’ - spoudaza in the Greek which means ’to hasten, make haste, to exert one’s self, endeavour, give diligence.’ Also ‘do your best, take care, hurry on the doing of something.’ The verb speaks of intensity of purpose followed by intensity of effort toward the realisation of that purpose.
4:15 - the word ‘opened’ is the translation of the Greek word trachelizo. The noun is tracheas, ‘the neck or the throat.’ The final metaphor of the victim’s throat bared to the sacrificial knife is a vivid illustration of the total exposure of the human heart to the eye of God whose inspired Word is as keen as a two-edged sword.
The rest of salvation.
The rest of healing.
The rest of provision.
The rest of answered prayer.
From our position of rest we must arm ourselves - dressed in God’s armour - and help the brethren.

Retirement has never been in my life plan. I have always wanted to be a Joshua or a Caleb.
I look forward to the rapture - yet before that occurs, which I am more than convinced it could happen in my lifetime, I want to introduce as many Aussies and others as possible to the Lord so that they too can be called up when the time comes.
Work out our salvation with fear and trembling - Ph 2:12
Epaphras labours fervently for you in prayers that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God - Col 3:12
