Outline

‘Be not ignorant of any thing in a great matter or a small.’ Ecclesiasticus 5:15(Apocrypha)

The apocrypha was published in the original 1611 King James Bible. Part of the KJV for 274 years until removed in 1885 AD.

Martin Luther said, “Apocrypha - that is books which are not regarded as equal to the Holy Scriptures and yet are profitable and good to read.”

Socrates claimed, “Ignorance is the beginning of wisdom.” It is not. Awareness of ones ignorance and incentive to correct may spur the acquisition of knowledge - not wisdom.

Ignorance? Lack of knowledge and information.

1 Peter 5:8; 2 Cor 2:11 - be not ignorant of the devil and his devices

1 Thes 4:13-18 - be not ignorant of our hope

Acts 17:30-31 - be not ignorant of our judgment

How to control ignorance?

1. Feed your mind with digestible information

2. Ask yourself honest, yet sometimes uncomfortable questions

3. Become super-forecasters by collaborating with others

4. Constantly look for alternative opinions

5. Curb the impulse to assign judgments to events
